Arsenal were rejected in their bid to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this week and Tim Sherwood has warned them of potential consequences.
The north London club had made a £60 million offer for the Ecuadorian midfielder, but it was turned down, with reports suggesting that Brighton are aiming for nearer to £90 million before they will part ways with him.
While Arsenal are considering making an improved proposal ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline, Sherwood believes they should be looking elsewhere due to the player’s high asking price.
He explained that Yves Bissouma is a good example, who went from a world-beater at Brighton to barely playing at Tottenham Hotspur.
He argued that Caicedo is not worth the money being demanded and suggested there may be better options available for Arsenal to improve their midfield.
Although manager Mikel Arteta has admitted the difficulty of securing further reinforcements in this window and underlined his priority of getting the most out of his existing players, he has also stated that he remains open to exploring potential opportunities should any arise.
