Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is yet to be convinced on the idea of allowing senior player Cedric Soares to leave in a loan or permanent deal, with Fulham interested in signing the right back this January Transfer Window.

According to The Athletic, Fulham are ‘in talks’ with Arsenal over the possible switch, although there may be a hitch as Fulham have already filled their two Premier League loan spots with Shane Duffy and Daniel James on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion and Leeds United respectively.

Because of this, one of those loans may need to be terminated should Soares join them on loan.

Despite limited game time so far this season, Arteta has valued the experienced Portuguese defender’s cover at both right-back and left-back, making his decision all the more difficult.

Cedric has Premier League title ambitions but Marco Silva’s potential offer of more regular starting role could be too tempting for him to turn down.

With an emotional connection due to Silva’s time as boss at Sporting CP in Portugal also pushing him towards a move to West London, it seems Cedric Soares will have quite a big decision on his hands before Mikel Arteta makes up his mind either way.
