Arsenal revived their Premier League title hopes with a 2-0 win over Manchester United on Wednesday, handing Ruben Amorim his first defeat since taking over as Red Devils manager.

The victory lifted Arsenal to 28 points from 14 matches, moving them up to third in the table, seven points behind Liverpool, who dropped points against Newcastle.

Arsenal had an early goal ruled out for offside, with Gabriel Martinelli’s fourth-minute effort disallowed.

They also saw Thomas Partey miss a golden chance from a near-post corner.

Despite Arsenal’s pressure, Manchester United defended well, frustrating the hosts with organized play.

The best opportunity for United in the first half came from Diogo Dalot, whose shot narrowly missed the far post.

The breakthrough came for Arsenal in the 54th minute when Jurrien Timber scored from close range after a corner by Declan Rice.

United paid for conceding another set piece in the 73rd minute, as a header from Thomas Partey deflected off William Saliba and into the net, giving Arsenal a 2-0 lead.

Two set-piece goals proved decisive, as Arsenal secured the win.

Manchester United are now in 11th place, seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the battle for a Champions League spot.
