Arsenal are once again showing interest in Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as they search for a new striker this summer. With their focus shifting away from Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, the Gunners are now exploring other options, and Watkins has emerged as a serious contender.

According to BirminghamLive, Arsenal have already reached out to Watkins’ representatives to gauge his interest and discuss possible terms. The club is eager to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season, especially after hitting roadblocks in talks with Sporting Lisbon.

Watkins was in fine form last season, scoring 17 goals across all competitions and bringing his total to 87 goals for Aston Villa since joining from Brentford in 2020.

The striker made his feelings clear when he admitted, “I was fuming to miss out on the Champions League starting XI, I don’t like sitting on the bench.”

He later explained that his frustration came from his competitive spirit and confirmed his full support for manager Unai Emery.

Arsenal’s renewed interest comes as Villa face changes in their forward lineup. Marcus Rashford’s loan has ended, and with Jhon Duran expected to leave, the club may soon be in the market for another striker.
