Mikel Arteta, manager of Arsenal football club, has said they are exploring the possibility of signing a new midfielder before Tuesday’s transfer window closes.
This is due to fears that a knee injury could keep current Gunners’ Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny out for the remainder of the season.
Brighton’s Leandro Trossard was recently signed for £26 million and Spezia’s Jakub Kiwior for around £20 million.
Arteta spoke to reporters Wednesday and commented that Elneny, who has never complained about any issue in the past, “had some issues with his knee that we are assessing at the moment and we will have to see how he evolves” before their next match against Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
