FC Barcelona has officially appointed Hansi Flick as their new manager, marking the end of speculation surrounding the coaching position.
The announcement, long anticipated, was made via a video shared by the club, featuring Flick declaring, “Culers, it’s our moment.”
Flick steps into the role previously held by club legend Xavi Hernandez.
The club confirmed the agreement, stating that Flick would lead the men’s first team until June 30, 2026.
The contract signing took place at the club’s offices, attended by President Joan Laporta, Vice-President Rafa Yuste, and Sports Director Anderson Luís de Souza, commonly known as Deco.
Flick’s most recent stint was with the German national team, which ended in September 2023.
Despite a challenging tenure, his prior experience at Bayern Munich was illustrious, including a historic sextuple triumph.
In addition to Flick, FC Barcelona announced the appointments of Toni Tapalovic and Marcus Sorg as assistants, all signing until 2026.
The financial aspect of the agreement was notable, with Flick agreeing to a salary of €3 million before taxes, reflecting the club’s economic constraints.
However, bonuses for achievements like winning La Liga or the UEFA Champions League were included.
