Graham Potter has provided an update on a late injury scare involving Ben Chilwell ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Southampton in the Premier League this Saturday.
According to Potter, Chilwell felt a kick on his ankle in the final five minutes of their Champions League loss against Borussia Dortmund and ‘it was more of a kick than anything else’, though he has yet to check it thoroughly.
He also revealed that the plan had been for Chilwell to come off around or before the 70-minute mark due to fatigue after making his first start in some time.
Chelsea will now face Southampton, who are without a manager following Nathan Jones’ sacking earlier this week, in their bid to bring Potter’s two-game run over nine fixtures to an end.
