Bolt and Uber drivers in Benin City, Nigeria, staged a protest against what they deemed unfair treatment by their managers.

The drivers carried placards with demands such as reducing the commission paid to Bolt and Uber from 25% to 10%, increasing the minimum fare to N1,000, and compensating drivers for far distance pick-ups.

They also called for an end to the deactivation of drivers and for cancelled rides to be charged N500.

The protest caused traffic gridlocks and disrupted commercial activities in the city.

The drivers have put their services on hold until their demands are met.

The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Edo State commended the drivers for their peaceful demonstration and called on the government to address their concerns.
