Thirteen political parties in Nigeria are threatening to boycott the upcoming general elections unless the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) rolls back its deadline for swapping old naira notes for new ones.
On February 10th, CBN had set the date as the cutoff point, even though it was initially planned for January 31st.
But after many Nigerians noted that they had difficulties accessing the updated N200, N500, and N1,000 notes, the CBN moved to extend this timeline – a move these parties are not in favor of.
