According to sources, Brendan Rodgers, the former manager of Leicester City, has been offered the coaching position at Southampton.
If he accepts the job, there is speculation about whether he will give more playing time to Nigerian players Joe Aribo and Paul Onuachu.
Aribo joined Southampton last summer but has only scored two goals in 27 appearances and has fallen out of favor with interim manager Ruben Selles.
Onuachu, who joined Southampton in January, has only appeared in nine games and started in three.
It is likely that the club will seek a more experienced manager to help them return to the Premier League.
Rodgers may be drawn to the project on the south coast, and if he takes the job, he may start both Onuachu and Che Adams in the forward positions.
While Aribo may still need to earn more playing time under the new manager, Onuachu may have a chance to shine.
