A federal high court in Kano has issued an interim order to prevent the Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) and the Nigeria Police Force from arresting Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of the state.
The court order also restrains other parties, including the Inspector-General of Police, Kano commissioner of police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Attorney-General of the Federation, and Attorney-General of Kano state, from taking action against Ganduje.
This comes after the PCACC announced that it had invited Ganduje for interrogation regarding bribery allegations.
In 2018, an online publication released a video claiming that Ganduje was receiving bundles of dollars from contractors.
The publication alleged that the former governor requested a $5 million bribe from the contractors.
The interim order will remain in effect until the hearing and determination of the substantive motion.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano has also advised Ganduje to disregard the invitation from the state anti-corruption commission.
