Adamu Bulkachuwa, a former senator representing Bauchi north, has denied influencing the decisions of his wife, Zainab Bulkachuwa, who was the former president of the court of appeal.
Speaking at a senate valedictory session, the former senator admitted to influencing his wife’s decisions while she was in office, but was interrupted by the former senate president, Ahmad Lawan.
Bulkachuwa’s comments sparked outrage, with many Nigerians calling for investigations into his claim.
However, in an interview with BBC Hausa, the former senator clarified that he did not mean to imply any negative influence and that he was not allowed to finish his thoughts during the session.
He also stated that the help he provided to his wife was in the form of general support and did not involve breaking the law or doing anything wrong.
