Wema Bank has announced the approval of Moruf Oseni as the new managing director/CEO by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), effective from April 1, 2023.
The CBN also approved the appointments of Wole Akinleye as deputy managing director and Tunde Mabawonku as executive director.
Oseni has been serving in an acting capacity since January 1, 2023, and will be succeeding Ademola Adebise.
He has been with Wema Bank since 2012, serving as an executive director and deputy managing director before his current appointment.
With over 25 years of experience, Oseni has held senior management positions in various financial institutions, including MG Ineso, Renaissance Capital, and Schroder Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup Global Markets.
He holds an MBA from INSEAD, a Master’s in Finance from the London Business School, and a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from OAU.
The board expressed confidence in the new appointments and their ability to lead the bank towards continued growth and transformation through technology and innovation.
