Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed plans for the £23.5 million signing of Lesley Ugochukwu.
The midfielder, who is currently with Rennes, is expected to initially go on loan.
Chelsea has agreed to the deal and Ugochukwu has already passed a medical examination.
Pochettino expressed the need for more experienced options in central midfield, with Brighton’s Moises Caicedo being the priority target.
Ugochukwu, a 19-year-old defensive midfielder, has already made 60 senior appearances for Rennes.
Chelsea’s signing of young prospects has been a trend under the new regime, with Ugochukwu joining a list of other talented players.
Additionally, Chelsea has agreed to a £39 million deal with Monaco for centre-back Axel Disasi.
