Chimaroke Nnamani, the senator for Enugu east, has been defeated in his bid for re-election to the upper legislative chamber.
Announcing the results, Joachim Omeje of INEC said Kelven Chukwu from the Labour Party won with 69,136 votes while Nnamani from the Peoples Democratic Party got 48,701 votes and Adaku Ogbu from the All Progressives Congress came third with 8,548 votes.
Chukwu was originally a candidate for LP until his brother Oyibo was killed days before voting began and he had to take his place.
Meanwhile, Nnamani’s expulsion from PDP had come ten days prior over alleged anti-party activities due to him backing Bola Tinubu of APC, although he sued them over it.
