Cristiano Ronaldo will be honored with a special UEFA award recognizing his status as the Champions League’s all-time leading goalscorer.

The ceremony will take place at the revamped draw for this season’s tournament on Thursday, August 29, in Monaco.

Ronaldo’s impressive record includes 140 goals in 183 Champions League matches, spanning over 18 seasons with Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

He finished as the top scorer in seven Champions League campaigns and remains 11 goals ahead of Lionel Messi, both of whom are no longer playing in Europe.

UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin praised Ronaldo, calling him “one of the brightest stars in the UEFA Champions League constellation” and commended his relentless pursuit of excellence and passion for the game.

Ronaldo’s first Champions League victory came in 2008 with Manchester United, and he later added four more titles during his tenure with Real Madrid.

His achievements extend beyond club football.

He is the leading all-time male international goalscorer with 130 goals in 212 caps.

Despite his age, the 39-year-old Portuguese star has shown no signs of slowing down and continues to establish himself as a significant figure in international football.

As Ronaldo himself mentioned, “When I leave the national team, it won’t be a planned announcement. It will be a spontaneous yet well-thought decision on my part.”
