President Muhammadu Buhari has officially commissioned the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, which is now Africa’s largest oil refinery.
The state-of-the-art refinery is expected to make Nigeria self-sufficient in refined products and potentially position the country as an exporter of surplus products.
Distinguished Heads of State from Ghana, Togo, Niger, Senegal, and a representative of the President of Chad were present at the inauguration ceremony.
President Buhari hailed the achievement as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s economy and recognized its transformative impact on the downstream petroleum products market throughout the African region.
He extended his appreciation to the Dangote Group for their remarkable investments that have played a pivotal role in revitalizing Nigeria’s economy.
The President also urged other entrepreneurs to emulate the iconic Nigerian industrialist and join the government in accelerating the country’s growth to realize its globally recognized economic potential.
He emphasized the need for Africa to come together, integrate its economies, eliminate barriers to trade, and energize its youthful population to scale up its productive capacity to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063.
