Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has named three uncapped players, Aitor Paredes, Marc Casado, and Samu Omorodion in his squad for upcoming Nations League matches against Switzerland and Denmark.
Omorodion is in excellent form for Porto and currently the top scorer in the Europa League with four goals, and could make his debut, with some uncertainty surrounding the fitness of captain Álvaro Morata.
Morata was hospitalized in Milan after sustaining a head injury during Thursday’s training session.
De la Fuente may also give 21-year-old Casado a chance to feature.
The Barcelona midfielder has been a key player for his club, who are dominating La Liga this season.
Bilbao’s 24-year-old centre-back Paredes could earn his first cap as well.
The Spain coach is still without first-choice goalkeeper Unai Simón, who has been sidelined by injury and has not played for Bilbao this season.
Ballon d’Or winner Rodri is also absent after undergoing knee surgery, with reports suggesting he could miss the rest of the season.
During the squad announcement, De la Fuente also expressed solidarity with the victims of recent floods in Spain, which have caused at least 219 deaths and left 93 missing. “We will play for all of you,” he said, offering support to those affected.
Spain have already secured qualification for the Nations League quarter-finals and lead Group A4.
They will face Denmark in Copenhagen on November 15 and Switzerland in Tenerife three days later.
