On a otherwise joy-filled Christmas Day, dark tragedy hit a Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Colorado when Thornton Police discovered two adults dead at the scene.
Following their response to a structure fire call, they received a second call suggesting that one adult, believed to be a married couple, had shot and killed the other before taking his own life.
The investigation is still ongoing as authorities examine a suspicious device found at the scene and question witnesses.
Although there is not an active threat against the community, Thornton mayor Jan Kulmann expressed her sadness over the “violent actions that took two lives” on what was meant to be such a celebratory day.
Identity of the victims will likely be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office in coming days.
