Dele Alli’s loan spell at Besiktas has been a disappointment, with the midfielder set to return to Everton for assessment of an injury.
Despite hopes that the move to the Turkish Super Lig would reinvigorate his career, Alli has made just 15 appearances in all competitions and had several run-ins with boss Senol Gunes.
His latest setback is a muscle injury, which has led to his return to Everton for medical assessment.
Besiktas had wanted to cancel his loan move in January but were unable to due to the lack of a break clause in the agreement.
Alli joined Everton in February 2022, but failed to impress and was shipped out to Besiktas less than six months later.
His last appearance for Besiktas came in February, and he has not featured since.
Alli had a separate run-in with Gunes earlier this season after being hauled off in a cup game and left on the bench for a later match.
His future remains uncertain, with a potential transfer being discussed.
