Renowned journalist, Dele Momodu, recently shed light on the ongoing feud between Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State and Minister Nyesom Wike of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to Momodu, the root cause of their political rivalry can be traced back to their desire to control the treasury of Rivers State.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Momodu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), explained that the fight between Wike and Fubara revolves around politics and the financial resources of the state.

He emphasized the importance of Rivers State in Nigerian elections and how gaining control of the state’s treasury provides not only political influence but also access to substantial funds.

The conflict between Wike and Fubara has had far-reaching consequences, affecting various sectors of governance in the state. The State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, and state commissioners aligned with both factions have all been impacted by the ongoing power struggle.

In an attempt to resolve the dispute, President Bola Tinubu intervened and successfully brokered a peace agreement between the two factions. However, despite the peace accord, the rivalry persists, with both parties and their loyalists engaging in a cold war.
