Nollywood actor and Lagos lawmaker, Hon. Desmond Elliot, has thrown his weight behind a blockbuster boxing contest between heavyweight veteran Ike “The President” Ibeabuchi and Nigerian boxer Idris Afinni – www.naijnaira.com reports.
Leadership News confirmed the fight will light up Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere today, Saturday, August 23.
Elliot is partnering with Prizefighting.tv promoter Miyen Akiri to deliver the event.
The Nigerian Boxing Board of Control has already sanctioned the bout, which will also stream live on Prizefighting.tv.
Speaking on the showdown, Elliot expressed his excitement about supporting a project he believes will energize the youth.
“Nigerians will experience the greatest boxing bout since the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight,” Elliot declared.
He praised Miyen Akiri for convening the fight, saying his optimism pushed the project forward.
The Surulere lawmaker urged Lagos residents to show up and cheer, calling it an opportunity to back local athletes.
“Representation is not only about giving alms; it is also about promoting sports and inspiring people to excel,” he added.
