Reports claiming Governor Biodun Oyebanji plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have been firmly denied by the Ekiti leader, NaijNaira can report.
News report alleged that Oyebanji and other key political figures were being lured into the ADC fold by former Governor Kayode Fayemi.
But in a statement from his media adviser, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji called the claims “a tissue of lies” aimed at misleading the public and causing unrest in the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Oyebanji and the public office holders mentioned in the report remain firmly rooted in the All Progressives Congress,” Oyebode clarified.
He pointed out that Fayemi recently attended an APC caucus in Iyin-Ekiti, where Tinubu and Oyebanji received full endorsement for another term.
The governor’s camp sees this as an attempt to exploit his connection with Fayemi to create friction with President Tinubu.
“The President is a strategic politician who can see through their shenanigans and hidden agenda,” Oyebode said.
He called on Ekiti residents to ignore what he described as “childish media attacks” driven by unnamed politicians eyeing the governorship seat.
“These desperate politicians… have resorted to attacking the government on social media and spreading unintelligent lies,” he added.
With INEC’s announcement of the election timeline, Oyebode challenged them to face voters with ideas instead of distractions.
