Elon Musk has shocked Twitter users by revealing that he is not making any money off the platform, and labeling it the “world’s largest non-profit”.
The world’s second-richest man declared his financial situation with a joke, saying in a tweet: “Say what you want about me, but I acquired the world’s largest non-profit for $44B lol.”
As could be expected with something posted by such an influential figure, his words gathered over half a million likes, and numerous discussions sparked from them.
While some appreciated his optimism, others mentioned that potential money could be made from Twitter if its users were more pleasant.
This comes after Facebook announced their own version of Musk’s ‘paid blue check’ model – which requires applicants to pay in order to become verified – first launching in Australia and New Zealand but expanding when finalized.
