Tony Elumelu, the Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA), has addressed rumors that he will be appointed as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) after a meeting with President Tinubu.
Elumelu took to social media to debunk the speculation, describing it as “false news.”
“LOL. No, please. This is false news!”
While Elumelu and Tinubu have a cordial relationship, with Tinubu visiting Elumelu at his residence and Elumelu visiting Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, their discussions and meetings have been private.
Elumelu has expressed admiration for Tinubu’s policies and believes that the Nigerian people will benefit from them.
However, there is no confirmation of Elumelu’s appointment as the CBN Governor.
