Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Adamawa State, has been arrested after being suspended and declared wanted.
Yunusa-Ari was arrested by the Police Election Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Team in Abuja on Tuesday for declaring the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Adamawa governorship election before the conclusion of collation of results of the supplementary polls conducted across the state.
The police are currently investigating the motives and motivations behind his alleged improper actions during the supplementary elections in Adamawa State.
Other officials and individuals linked to the improper conduct of Yunusa Ari are also being interrogated by the police investigators.
The IGP has given clear assurance that every individual involved/indicted in the matter will be apprehended and investigated in line with the provisions of the law for possible prosecution.
