Erling Haaland has been forced to pull out of the Norwegian Euro 2024 squad due to a groin problem.
The Manchester City striker, who has scored eight goals in two matches for the club, including a hat-trick against Burnley on Saturday, will miss Norway’s opening Group A qualifiers against Spain and Georgia.
Team doctor Ola Sand said an examination revealed that Haaland should be receiving medical follow-up with his club while Norwegian coach Stale Solbakken lamented the fact that he could not “fight” for the team.
The 22-year-old frontman has found the net 42 times in 37 appearances since making the transition from Borussia Dortmund last summer and is expected to be fit for City’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on April 1 and Champions League quarter-final first leg tie against Bayern Munich on April 11.
