Barrister Silas Onu, former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, has officially resigned from the party and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), NaijNaira can report.
Onu, who contested for the Ebonyi South Senatorial seat under the PDP in the February 2024 bye-election, confirmed his departure in a letter obtained by NaijNaira.
He addressed the letter to his Obiozara Ward chairman, urging his supporters to shift their loyalty to the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“The decision didn’t come easily,” he stated, “but I am compelled to pursue my political aspirations from a different, but a stable platform.”
Onu cited the interference of certain PDP governors as a major factor behind his resignation from the party.
He expressed disappointment over what he described as “the meddlesomeness of a few governors” in internal affairs.
“As a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, I served my best,” Onu said, referencing his roles as Publicity Secretary and State Chairman.
He described his journey within the PDP as impactful, thanking his followers for their support over the years.
Onu encouraged them to continue their political efforts within the ADC, emphasizing unity and progress moving forward.
