Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, recently participated in his first jiu-jitsu martial arts tournament and won silver and gold medals.
The tournament was held at Woodside High School in California, near the headquarters of Meta, Zuckerberg’s company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Zuckerberg shared his achievement on Facebook and Instagram, stating that he began studying martial arts during the pandemic and found it helped him boost his energy level and tackle challenges at work.
He trains with coach Dave Camarillo, who has taught several UFC mixed martial arts champions.
Unlike MMA, Brazilian-style jiu-jitsu emphasizes fighting opponents through holds and control instead of kicks or striking.
Zuckerberg’s coach, Khai “The Shadow” Wu, congratulated him on his performance, and a video posted on social media showed Zuckerberg passionately contesting a referee’s call during one of his fights before hugging his opponent.
