The Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has given approval to six new companies to import petroleum products into Nigeria.

The Managing Director of Nigeria Mainstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDRA), Farouk Ahmed, made this announcement to State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa.

Ahmed clarified that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) did not approve Dangote Group to import petroleum, as the company does not have the authority to give such approval.

He also mentioned that several other companies have applied for permits to import petroleum in due course.

The NMDRA MD assured that there will be no gap in supply or distribution of fuel, as NNPC has 30 days fuel sufficiency.
