The FIFA Member Association (MA) courses for technical instructors, physical fitness instructors, and young refereeing talents will take place from June 8 to 19 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
According to Daily Trust, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the programme, featuring 80 participants, aims to update Nigeria’s technical and fitness instructors on the latest global trends in refereeing and physical training. The course is set to help instructors adopt global best practices.
FIFA has appointed Technical Instructor Ali Mohamed Ahmed and Fitness Instructor Boubaker Hanachi to lead the training sessions, alongside Nigerian instructors Felicia Okwugba, Peter Edibe, Emmanuel Imiere, Stella Emoji, and IT/Video Instructor Promise Uwaeme.
“The programme is designed to bring our technical and fitness instructors up to speed with modern trends and to help them adopt international best practices in refereeing,” said the Nigeria Football Federation.
The technical and physical fitness course, which started today, will cover various modules including tactical fouls, preparation of practical training, new law changes, handball decisions, offside rules, penalty area incidents, and the use of new FIFA red cards. Each day will begin with practical training involving referees and players.
The Young Talents programme, scheduled for June 15 to 19, will focus on developing young referees with sessions on tactical fouls, penalty area incidents, modern positioning, reading the game, and fitness assessments. All activities will be conducted at the MKO Abiola National Stadium.
