Arsenal’s hopes of signing Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk have been hindered reportedly due to a ‘FIFA ruling’ amidst the invasion of Ukraine.

The Gunners are said to have had two bids for the 22-year-old Ukrainian international turned down already this winter, their last offer believed to be around £62m (€70m).

However, with Shakhtar’s demands reaching up to €100m for the winger, Arsenal are not keen on paying close to that amount.

It is stated that due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and FIFA’s ruling which allowed foreign players to leave without paying a fee, Shakhtar considers their top assets as a means of making up what they lost.

While Mudryk has favoured a move to Arsenal, Stan Collymore believes that Chelsea may be the more attractive project in terms of potential and consistent competition for silverware over a period of three or four years.
