In a major setback for the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Adamawa state governor Senator Jibrilla Bindow has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared his support for PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in the upcoming 2023 general election, according to Channels TV.
Bindow has also declared his support for Governor Umaru Fintiri’s re-election bid in Adamawa state as well as his backing for Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential campaign.
As a show of loyalty, he sent a delegation of 250 to Yola on Monday, January 9 to personally make himself known to the state governor.
There, they expressed appreciation for Fintiri’s efforts in completing projects that had been bequeathed to him and announced their strong backing of the PDP candidate.
By doing so, Senator Jibrilla Bindow caused a major setback for APC stalwart Bola Tinubu who relied on his power base in northern Nigeria.
