Former Watford forward Luis Suarez has been accused of domestic violence by his ex-wife and has reportedly been arrested in Spain.
Suarez played for Watford from 2017 to 2020 but never featured in a match due to multiple loan moves.
After his stint at Watford, he signed with La Liga side Granada in 2020, following a successful loan spell at Real Zaragoza.
Suarez later joined Olympique de Marseille in 2022 and had a loan period at Almeria before the club exercised a right-to-buy option.
The 27-year-old Colombian, currently playing for second-tier Spanish side Almeria, was allegedly read his rights after attending a police station with his lawyer.
The arrest reportedly occurred more than two weeks ago, but Suarez was released without charge pending an ongoing court investigation.
He appeared before a judge specializing in violence against women in a closed hearing, where his ex-wife detailed years of alleged abuse.
According to reports, she claimed Suarez had thrown objects at her, locked her in their home, forced her into sexual relations, and exhibited controlling behavior regarding her clothing.
Suarez has not made any official statement but has reportedly denied the allegations.
Authorities in Almeria have not commented on the arrest or investigation as of the latest reports.
