Australian singer and actor Jai Waetford has become a first-time father, celebrating the arrival of his baby with partner Bec Donaghy.
The 25-year-old former X Factor Australia contestant, known for his breakout performance in 2013, shared a touching Instagram photo of Bec gently cradling their newborn. “Sleepy angel,” he captioned the post, according to the Daily Mail Australia.
The couple first revealed they were expecting on New Year’s Day, posting sweet pictures of Bec’s baby bump. Jai, who captured hearts as a teenager with his soulful voice, was seen doting on her in several of those early photos. In one caption, they wrote warmly: “Baby Waetford coming 2025.”
While it’s unclear how long the pair have been together, their romance became public in July 2023 when Bec posted a photo of them embracing on her Instagram. Since then, the pair have regularly shared glimpses of their relationship online.
Jai first rose to fame on The X Factor Australia at just 14, earning the nickname “Aussie Bieber” after his standout audition featuring both a cover and an original song. He placed third that season, and his debut single Your Eyes reached number six on the ARIA Singles Chart.
After stepping back from music, Jai transitioned into acting, landing a major role on Neighbours as Angus Beaumont-Hannay. He later moved to Hollywood and signed with Creative Artists Agency, taking time to travel through Africa and South America before returning to Australia.

Most recently, Jai appeared in the Stan drama Critical Incident, marking his continued presence in Australian entertainment. His latest milestone, however, is one that marks a new chapter altogether—as a father.
