In an effort to quell unrest in France, President Emmanuel Macron is considering the possibility of blocking social networks.

He expressed the need to identify which social networks are being used by protesting youth and potentially implementing bans.

Macron emphasized the importance of approaching this issue thoughtfully and not making hasty decisions.

He blamed social media for the escalation of violence during protests against police brutality, stating that violent gatherings were organized through these platforms.

Macron acknowledged that when social media becomes a tool for gatherings or attempted murders, it becomes a significant problem.

In addition to addressing social media, measures have been taken in northern France to tighten controls and prevent the import of fireworks, which rioters have been using.

These measures include a ban on the sale and transport of fireworks and gasoline in canisters until mid-July.

The unrest in France began after the death of a 17-year-old who was shot by a police officer during a roadside inspection, leading to violent clashes, looting, and arson.

The police officer involved is currently under investigation for manslaughter.
