Fulham's Aleksandar Mitrovic banned for eight games after red card against Man Utd

Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic will be absent from eight games after the Football Association confirmed a lengthy ban for his violent conduct towards a referee.

Mitrovic received a red card during Fulham’s FA Cup match against Manchester United last month for grabbing referee Chris Kavanagh.

He was initially given a standard three-match ban, but this has been extended by three games for his violent conduct towards a match official and another two for using improper language.

Mitrovic admitted to the latter offence and was fined £75,000, but he unsuccessfully disputed the charge of violent conduct.

He has already missed one game and will now be unavailable for Fulham’s next seven matches.
