Tyson Fury has stated that there should be no rematch clause if he and Oleksandr Usyk are to go forward with their undisputed heavyweight showdown.
Although many believed that the fighters were close to signing a contract for an April 29 fight at Wembley Stadium, negotiations have been held up by terms argued over by both parties.
Fury’s camp has asked for a 70-30 split, which Usyk accepted.
However, after the Ukrainian team noted they had originally asked for a rematch clause in their earlier discussions, Fury upped his demand stating neither fighter would have an opportunity at one should they lose.
Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krassyuk and manager Egis Klimas have also taken to social media in response to what they consider as “dodging” on Fury’s part.
Despite this, it is still expected that discussions will continue and the WBA has withdrawn its request for Usyk to fight mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois following the belief that a deal between him and Fury is nearing completion.
