House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, has held a meeting with all nine members vying for the position of the Speaker of the 10th National Assembly.

According to Gbajabiamila’s post on Twitter, he has known and worked with each of the aspirants for many years and believes that they all have the capacity to lead the House and continue the legacies of the 9th Assembly.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker Ahmed Idris Wase, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation Aliyu Mukthar Betara, Chairman of the House Committee on Navy Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs Benjamin Kalu, Chairman of the House Committee in Land Transport Tajudeen Abbas, Chairman of the House Committee on Disaster Preparedness Abdulraheem Olawuyi, Chairman of the House Committee on Water Resources Sada Soli Jibia, Abubakar Makki Yalleman, and Sani Jaji. Deputy House Leader, Peter Akpatason, also attended the meeting.

The meeting was described as a reconciliation and aimed to ensure that the aspirants work together in harmony for the good of the House and their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The meeting also sought to avoid any negative comments or statements about each other during the campaign period and to ensure a rancor-free campaign.

It was reported that the meeting was held to find a way of avoiding any impediments that could affect the integrity of the House.

While the party has not yet made any announcement regarding the zoning arrangement for the position, Gbajabiamila cannot impose any of the aspirants on the others.

Thus, the meeting was held to ensure that all aspirants work together and that no negative comments are made during the campaign.

Gbajabiamila expressed his belief in the capacity of the aspirants, having worked with them for a while now. However, the party must speak out first before anyone can begin to take a position.

The meeting has been welcomed by political observers, who see it as a way of ensuring a peaceful and transparent election process.

It is expected that the party will soon announce the zoning arrangement for the position, which will determine which region will produce the next Speaker.
