Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, addressed rumors of his appointment as Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, stating that people should be patient and allow the system to work.
While a report by Leadership Newspaper claimed that Tinubu had appointed Gbajabiamila, there has been no official confirmation.
Gbajabiamila was reelected as a House of Representatives member for Surulere Constituency in Lagos State during the February National Assembly elections and has been referred to as the president’s “right-hand man” due to his visibility in the president’s engagements.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan stated that Tinubu would have made a wise decision if Gbajabiamila is appointed as his chief of staff.
The rumors of Gbajabiamila’s appointment have been fueled by his body language of being uninterested in retaining his position when the 10 National Assembly resumes in June.
The report by Leadership Newspaper claimed that Tinubu introduced Gbajabiamila as his chief of staff during a meeting with service chiefs at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, but the report has since been deleted.
During the meeting, Tinubu expressed his determination to turn the tide of insecurity besetting the country.
