Nigerian artist Gbono has officially released his new extended play (EP), Maybe a Little Longer. The five-track project delivers a personal collection of songs that blend Afrobeats and Afrofusion with elements of hip-hop, R&B, and reggae.
According to a report by TheCable Lifestyle, the Okene-born musician, whose real name is Yushau Adozuka, made the announcement earlier this week. The EP includes the tracks “6,6,” “Far & Wide,” “Nigerian,” “Mezebu,” and “Tonight.”
Speaking about the release, Gbono described the project as a “lived-in playlist of who I’ve been, and who I’m becoming.” He added, “Afrobeats lets me bring all those influences together while staying rooted in my identity as a Nigerian artist. I can sing in English, Yoruba, or patois, I can harmonize, rap, or chant and it still feels cohesive, still feels like home.”
Each song carries a distinct theme, with “6,6” offering a quiet introduction, “Far & Wide” exploring faith and progress, and “Nigerian” doubling as a form of social commentary. “Mezebu” leans into intimacy through coded language, while “Tonight” delivers a sense of closure.
Gbono began his music career in Zaria in 2005 under the name Big Brains before rebranding and founding his own label, Headline Music, to support independent musicians.
Maybe a Little Longer is available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
