Christian Atsu, the former Newcastle United midfielder and Ghana international, has tragically been found dead amid rubble in Turkey following the devastating earthquake.

It is reported that his body was recovered this morning as part of search efforts headed by his agent Nana Sechere.

His loss has deeply touched the footballing world and tributes have started pouring in from numerous quarters including his former clubs.

On hearing about the news, Newcastle stated their profound sadness on Twitter and blessed him for his contribution to their team.

Likewise, Chelsea FC and Everton paid tribute to Atsu who had spent a season-long loan at Goodison Park in 2014-15.
