Netflix has released a new Nordic noir series titled The Glass Dome, created by bestselling Swedish crime author Camilla Läckberg.

According to What to Watch, Läckberg is widely known for her bestselling novels including The Ice Princess, described by Scottish author Val McDermid as “a masterclass in Scandinavian crime writing.”

The Glass Dome follows Lejla Ness, a young criminologist portrayed by Léonie Vincent. Lejla was abducted as a child and held captive in a transparent prison known as the glass dome.

Years later, she returns to her childhood home in a quiet Swedish village. Just as she begins settling back, a young girl mysteriously disappears in a case hauntingly similar to Lejla’s own experience.

Lejla joins forces with her former partner, a local police chief, to find the missing girl. As the investigation progresses, the trauma of her past resurfaces, threatening to unravel her.

Netflix teases, “As Lejla investigates the disappearance, she must also confront her own inner darkness — a part of her past she’s tried to avoid. Are the similarities between Lejla’s past and the girl’s disappearance just a chilling coincidence? Or is history repeating itself?”

The cast includes Farzaneh Arastoo as Said, Ia Langhammer as Jorun, Johan Hedenberg as Valter, Johan Rheborg as Tomas, and Oscar Töringe as Daniel.

The Glass Dome is the third Swedish thriller on Netflix this year, following The Breakthrough, based on a true-crime story, and The Åre Murders, inspired by Viveca Sten’s novels.

Fans of The Åre Murders—which stars Carla Sehn as Hanna Ahlander, a police officer drawn into a murder case while visiting Åre—may find The Glass Dome equally compelling in tone and style.

Camilla Läckberg’s previous works include The Preacher, The Stranger, and Trapped, the latter co-written with Henrik Fexeus.

The Glass Dome is now streaming globally on Netflix.
