John Amos, known for his role in “Good Times” and often referred to as “America’s Dad,” was hospitalized after falling victim to elder abuse and possible financial crimes, according to his daughter Shannon Amos.
She received a distressing call from her father last month, informing her that he was in the hospital in Memphis.
Shannon was able to briefly FaceTime with him before his pain became unbearable.
The Amos family has since learned that the 83-year-old had fallen victim to elder abuse and financial exploitation by a caregiver, resulting in his home being violated and stripped of valuable items.
They are working with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and police to seek justice. Shannon has set up a GoFundMe with a $500k goal to help with John’s care, legal fees, and aftercare.
John Amos is also known for his roles in “Roots” and “The West Wing.” No further details have been provided at this time.
