Dr. Juliet Ehimuan, who held the position of Google’s Director for West Africa, has announced her departure from the company.
In a LinkedIn post, she expressed her desire to pursue a broader role within the regional technology landscape.
Ehimuan initially joined Google as the Country Director for Nigeria and later took on the role of Director for West Africa.
During her tenure, she led her team in implementing transformative digital initiatives, including projects like Get Nigeria Businesses Online and strategic partnerships.
She also played a key role in the localization and deployment of significant products such as Google Maps, Streetview, and YouTube.ng.
Under Ehimuan’s leadership, the Google team in Africa trained over 6 million Africans in digital skills, provided web and mobile development training to 100,000 developers, and established a Google for Startups accelerator for African tech entrepreneurs.
Additionally, she oversaw important access projects such as the expansion of the Google Station program in Nigeria and the deployment of Google’s Equiano fiber cable, which connects Africa with Europe.
Ehimuan’s contributions to information and communications technology (ICT) policy and strategy, including her involvement in committees like the National Economic Summit Group (NESG) and the Presidential Committee, have facilitated investment and infrastructure growth in the Nigerian tech ecosystem.
Known for her transformative leadership and thought leadership in the African technology sector, Ehimuan is also the founder of Beyond Limits, an initiative focused on leadership development and personal excellence.
She plans to utilize her extensive experience and network to drive digital transformation across the continent in a broader capacity, leveraging her passion for leadership development and coaching on personal excellence.
