Unknown gunmen have kidnapped HRH Sunday Dajep, the paramount ruler of Mhiship Nation in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incident occurred at Chip community of Pankshin local government area on Wednesday night.

A family source who requested anonymity revealed that gunshots were heard at the palace of the monarch around 11 pm, and the traditional ruler was subsequently abducted.

The source did not provide any additional information on the abduction.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, confirmed the incident in Jos, the state capital.

The PPRO disclosed that investigations are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the traditional ruler and the apprehension of the kidnappers.

The PPRO also called on members of the public to provide any relevant information that could aid the police in the rescue mission. He reassured the public that the police are working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the traditional ruler.
