Former Arsenal playmaker Paul Merson has heavily criticised Manchester United’s decision to sign Marcel Sabitzer as a replacement for injured Christian Eriksen.
The Red Devils decided to bring in 28-year-old Sabitzer from Bayern Munich, but Merson believes it was merely a “panic buy”, saying that if the player was truly good enough for United he would be getting game time with the German side.
Meanwhile, United manager Erik Ten Hag admitted it would be “difficult” to replace Eriksen, as the Dane brought something special to his side with his “final ball”.
Merson noted that Sabitzer had no previous interest from Old Trafford before the injury, arguing it is unlikely he will fill the void left by Eriksen.
