According to the Henley Passport Index, the global ranking of the Nigerian passport has improved by 10 places.

However, it still remains one of the worst passports in the world.

In the latest index published in July 2023, the Nigerian passport is ranked 90th globally, compared to its previous ranking of 100th in 2022.

The Henley Passport Index, published by Henley & Partners, is a reputable ranking that assesses the number of destinations passport holders can access without a prior visa.

Despite the improvement in ranking, Nigerian passport holders can only enter 46 countries without a visa, making it one of the least desirable passports for international travel.

Other countries with similarly low passport rankings include South Sudan, Congo, Eritrea, Iran, Sudan, Lebanon, Kosovo, Libya, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, North Korea, Nepal, Palestinian Territories, Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan, Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

On the other hand, the Singapore passport is currently ranked as the most powerful passport, allowing holders to visit 192 countries without a visa.

Germany, Italy, and Spain follow closely behind with 190 visa-free countries.
