Tinted Glass Permit, Nigeria Police Force, IGP extension

Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has approved more time for Nigerians to comply with the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, extending the grace period until August 12, 2025.

According to The Guardian Nigeria, this decision was shared in a statement by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, following public concerns about the newly reactivated digital application system.

“The extension is part of a broader effort to ensure that the digital permit process is accessible, secure, and user-friendly for all Nigerians,” the statement explained.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) noted that this extra time will help improve the application process by making it faster and strengthening the verification steps. Both physical and online application options are also being adjusted to make them easier to use.

The Police reminded the public that www.possap.gov.ng remains the only approved platform for applying for or renewing the Tinted Glass Permit. Nigerians were also encouraged to report any cases of extortion or unauthorised charges during the application or biometric capture process by calling the official hotline: 09169967000.

The NPF expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and support as efforts continue to improve the digital permit process and overall service delivery.
