Mikel Arteta expressed concern over Arsenal’s injury troubles after star player Bukayo Saka was forced off with a hamstring issue in the 24th minute of their 5-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Saka has been in exceptional form this season with nine goals and 13 assists, and he is now likely to face a period on the sidelines.
To make matters worse, forward Raheem Sterling also missed the match after picking up an injury in training.
Arteta admitted he was “very worried” about Saka’s condition, saying it was too early to determine the severity of the injury.
He acknowledged the challenge of Arsenal’s congested fixture schedule, which has already led to multiple minor injuries for Saka.
The manager remains uncertain about how long the forward will be out, stating it was “difficult to say” and that the team would assess him further.
Despite these setbacks, Arsenal’s victory over Palace, with goals from Gabriel Jesus (2), Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, and Declan Rice, moved them within three points of Premier League leaders Liverpool, who still have two games in hand.
Manchester City‘s 2-1 loss to Aston Villa means the title race is wide open, with a potential new champion this season.
However, Arteta is cautious about making predictions, emphasizing that it is “too early” to talk about winning the title.
